Preparing for your body scan

Before you come for you scan, make sure you’re prepared!

You’ll be shown into a changing area where you can take off your outer clothes before the scan. It’s important to wear the right underwear. The simpler the silhouette, the better the results, light colours produce much better results than dark ones.

For Women

Please wear close-fitting bra and brief separates in non-shiny, unpatterned fabrics.

Dangling ponytails, plaits or buns at the back of the neck will interfere with the scan so bring a clip, or band and grips to secure long hair on top of your head. Please don’t wear tights, sports tops, teddies, basques, French knickers, slips, petticoats or camisoles as all of these distort the silhouette and will give an inaccurate picture of your body shape. Stud earrings are fine, but don’t wear any other jewellery. Non-removable body jewellery and some tattoos may need to be covered. We can advise you about this on the day.

In order to take accurate bust measurements, you’ll need to be wearing a bra that fits well – one with the right back and cup sizes.  The band that fastens around your back should be firm, but comfortable. If the bra’s the right size, the band will sit horizontally. If the band is loose, or rides up at the back, try a smaller size. Your breasts should be completely enclosed in the cups and you should have a smooth line where the fabric at the top of the cup meets your bust. The wires at the front should lie flat against your breast bone. If there’s a bulge at the top of the cup or the wire is not sitting flat, try a larger cup size. And if you aren’t filling the cups, and there’s spare fabric, try a smaller size. The lingerie sections of most department store offer a bra measuring and fitting and service, along with smaller, specialist shops.

For Men

Please wear y fronts or close fitting lycra style shorts in light colours.  Do not wear loose boxer shorts as this will not give an accurate leg measurement.  Please choose a light plain coloured pair of pants in non shiny, unpatterned materials.  Stud earrings are fine, but don’t wear any other jewellery. Non-removable body jewellery and some tattoos may need to be covered. We can advise you about this on the day.
